Single Dental Implants
When one tooth is missing, a single dental implant replaces both the root and the visible crown without changing the healthy teeth next to it. Your surgeon places a small titanium post in the jawbone, and once it has healed, your dentist attaches a custom crown. The result is a natural-looking tooth that helps preserve the bone in that area and lets you chew comfortably again.
Multiple Dental Implants
If you are missing several teeth, implants can support individual crowns or an implant-supported bridge, depending on where the gaps are and how much bone is available. Placing implants in strategic positions lets us replace multiple teeth while keeping your treatment efficient. This approach gives you a stable, fixed alternative to a removable partial denture.
All-on-4® Dental Implants
All-on-4 dental implants use four strategically placed implants to support a complete arch of fixed replacement teeth. This approach can be a good fit for patients who are missing most or all of their teeth in one jaw, or whose remaining teeth need to be removed. During your consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your bone and help you decide whether a four-implant design or another full-arch option is right for you.
Full-Arch and Full Mouth Dental Implants
For patients missing all of their upper or lower teeth, full-arch treatment replaces an entire arch with teeth anchored securely to implants. Options range from screw-retained fixed teeth to individual implants for each tooth, and some patients choose full mouth dental implants to restore both arches. Because the upper jaw has softer bone, upper arch treatment often needs more implants, and your surgeon will explain the number recommended for your situation.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures attach to two or more implants, so they are more stable than a traditional denture that rests on the gums. Depending on your needs, the denture may snap onto individual implants or clip onto a custom bar for very little movement, and you can still remove it for cleaning. An implant-retained upper denture may also remove the need to cover the roof of your mouth, so you can taste your food more fully.
Same Day Dental Implants
Teeth-in-Day
Our Teeth-in-Day approach can provide fully functioning teeth on dental implants in a single procedure that takes about an hour. Using a 3D CT scan, your surgeon plans implant placement virtually and has your final prosthesis made before surgery, then places the implants with a computer-guided, minimally invasive technique that can reduce discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Not every patient is a candidate, so we will review your bone, health, and goals to see whether Teeth-in-Day is right for you.

Bone Grafting
After a tooth is lost, the surrounding jawbone can shrink, and up to one-third of its thickness may be lost within the first year. When there is not enough bone to support an implant, our surgeons can perform bone grafting, including ridge augmentation, sinus lifts, and socket preservation, to rebuild the area. This creates a stronger foundation so your implants have the support they need for long-term stability.
Why Patients Trust Our Dental Implant Surgeons
Choosing a dental implant surgeon is an important decision, especially when your treatment involves extractions, bone grafting, or a full arch of teeth. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates has cared for patients in this region since 1971, and our surgeons bring more than 70 years of combined surgical experience to every case. That depth of experience allows us to care for straightforward single-tooth cases as well as complex implant reconstructions.
Experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
Dr. Drew Millington and Dr. Bill Grosdidier are each Diplomates of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Fellows of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Their surgical training includes oral and maxillofacial surgery programs at the University of Minnesota and San Antonio Military Medical Center, and Dr. Grosdidier also served in the U.S. Air Force. When you choose a dental implant specialist with this level of surgical training, you can feel confident that complex cases involving bone loss, multiple extractions, and full-arch reconstruction are in experienced hands.
Comprehensive Surgical Care
Because our practice focuses on oral and maxillofacial surgery, the procedures that often come before an implant can be handled by the same team. Our surgeons perform tooth extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and implant placement, which keeps your care coordinated and your treatment plan consistent. Cone beam CT imaging and a radiation-free intraoral scanner also help us plan precisely while keeping your visits comfortable.
Sedation Options for Your Comfort
Every implant procedure begins with local anesthesia to numb the treatment area. For more comfort, our surgeons offer nitrous oxide and in-office IV sedation, which can be especially helpful if you feel anxious about oral surgery or are having a longer full-arch procedure. We will review your sedation options during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect on the day of surgery.
Consultation, Imaging, and Treatment Planning
Your first visit includes a careful evaluation of your teeth, gums, jawbone, and overall health. We use 3D cone beam imaging to see bone volume and important structures, which helps your surgeon choose the right implant positions. From there, we create a personalized plan and review your options, timeline, and estimated costs with you.
Implant Placement and Healing
Placing a single implant typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, while multiple implants may take two to three hours. After placement, the implant gradually bonds with your jawbone, and the length of healing depends on the quality and quantity of your bone. In some cases, a temporary tooth can be attached right away so you are not without teeth while you heal.
Coordinated Care With Your Restorative Dentist
Our surgeons work closely with your general or restorative dentist throughout treatment. We handle the surgical part of your care, and your dentist completes the final crown, bridge, or denture once your implants are ready. This team approach helps your new teeth fit comfortably, function well, and blend naturally with your smile.
Schedule a Dental Implant Consultation
If you are missing one tooth, considering All-on-4 dental implants, struggling with loose dentures, or interested in implant-supported replacement teeth, a consultation is a good first step. “Don’t be afraid to Smile.”
For years I’d felt like a part of my body was missing — because my teeth were. My dentist told me that dental implants would make me feel and look a lot better. OK, I said. Now, I’m thrilled. I can smile, eat anything, and enjoy a good laugh with my friends.
